Here’s a look at the incredible highlights from this fall sports season:
Record-Breaking Participation & Academic Excellence
SBISD student-athletes excelled not only in competition but also in the classroom:
- 2,055 high school and 2,931 middle school students participated in fall athletics, showing remarkable passion and commitment.
- 1,392 high school (68%) and 1,020 middle school (35%) student-athletes earned A/B Honor Roll status, proving that excellence extends beyond the field.
All-District Honors
Our student-athletes competed at the highest levels, earning prestigious All-District honors. This year, 160 student-athletes were recognized as All-District across multiple sports. Click here to read more.

National Letters of Intent
38 high school student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent, committing to continue their athletic journeys at colleges and universities nationwide. We are excited to see them excel at the next level!
Community & Fan Support
The SBISD community’s spirit was on full display this season:
- From August 2023 to January 2025, 50,057 tickets were tracked through the GoFan ticketing system.
This incredible turnout highlights the community’s pride and enthusiasm for our Mustangs, Raiders, Tigers, and Spartans!
Fall & Winter Sports Highlights
Football
- Memorial: Advanced as the No. 2 seed in Division II for 17-6A, earning a Bi-district playoff spot.
- Northbrook: Went 2-1 in non-district action, with Coach Stafford recognized as the Houston Texans’ Week 3 Coach of the Week.
- Spring Woods: Competed fiercely in 10-5A, narrowly missing playoff contention.
- Stratford: Advanced as the No. 1 seed in Division II for 17-6A, reaching the UIL 6A Division II Area Round.
- Notable Recognitions:
- Stratford’s Aaron DeLeon: Named to the Touchdown Club of Houston’s 2024 Preseason Team.
- Parker Johnson & Aaron DeLeon (Stratford): Finalists for Touchdown Club of Houston’s Players of the Year.
- Spring Woods & Stratford: Finalists for Touchdown Club of Houston’s High School Sportsmanship Award, with Stratford finishing tied for 3rd.
- Memorial’s Austin Alpe & Stratford’s Eric Fernworn: Finalists for Touchdown Club of Houston’s High School Football Scholar-Athlete Awards.
- Notable Recognitions:
Volleyball
- Memorial: Finished as 17-6A District Runner-Up and advanced to the Area Round.
- Spring Woods: Earned a Bi-district berth with a standout performance in 21-5A.
- Stratford: Dominated with an incredible 42-3 record, reaching the Class 6A Division II State Championship.
Water Polo
- Memorial: Girls advanced to the Bi-district round, while Boys reached the Regional Quarterfinals.
- Stratford: Girls reached the Regional Quarterfinals, and Boys advanced to the Regional Semifinals. This is the furthest a SBISD water polo team has ever advanced in UIL playoffs.
Cross Country
- Memorial: Girls’ team secured the 17-6A District title, led by Sophie Peterson, the Individual District Champion.
- State Qualifiers: Addison Scott & Sophie Peterson.
- Spring Woods: Boys’ team captured the 21-5A District Championship, with Frank Miranda named 21-5A Individual Champion.
- Girls’ Team: Placed third, with Hannah Araiza-Rojas crowned 21-5A Individual Champion.
- Stratford: Boys won the 17-6A District Championship, led by Ben Pearce, who also secured District and Regional titles.
- State Qualifier: Ben Pearce.
Team Tennis
- Memorial: Swept the season with District, Bi-district, Area, Regional Quarterfinal, and Regional Semifinal Championships, advancing to the Regional Final.
- Spring Woods: Won the 21-5A District title and progressed to the Area Round.
- Stratford: Secured the Bi-District championship and were Area Qualifiers.
