Congratulations to 5th grader Cooper Bryant, Character Without Question recipient from Wilchester!
Every year, SBISD honors students district-wide who reflect a depth of character and a caring for human beings. Students are selected for demonstrating an enduring commitment to any or all of the following character traits: honesty/integrity, responsibility/dependability, respect, perseverance/effort, courage, caring/kindness, and citizenship/civic virtue.
Cooper’s counselor, Jeannie Cataldo, wrote, “Cooper Bryant is a person of strong character who demonstrates kindness towards others on a daily basis and serves as a role model for all of our Spring Branch core values. He is always looking for ways to show respect by helping others as is evidenced by his commitment every Christmas to make his own personal donation to “Make a Wish.” It is especially touching to witness his respect towards his mother. Every morning when they walk into the school building, Cooper carries his mother’s bag in addition to his own backpack. There is a level of maturity in Cooper that is above and beyond a typical person of his age. He has a strong moral code and is the same person when no one is looking as he is when people are watching him. One student told me that even though Cooper’s mom is the assistant principal at Wilchester, Cooper doesn’t use it to his advantage to get people in trouble.” Cooper was selected for his commitment to being kind, respectful and having integrity.
